The whaler girls by Zephyri The whaler girls by Zephyri
It was as sunset cast its final burning embers across the well trodden beach that the trio of girls perched atop a oil-slicked rocks finally sagged into the unforgiving surface, arms and legs weary with the ache of hard toil. The day was done; one of many for the women of the town after the Spears had brought in the huge beast. Already the rumblings of a far off storm were beginning to vibrate in the chill wind and it would not be long before the sands were churned and cleansed of the whale's blood.

A piece for a personal world building project. Those of you who remember the last couple of pieces I've done for Eidy, this is development for the village she grew up in, and that set in motion the events that would eventually lead her to being one of the best known pirateers on the oceans.

All done in photoshop, and not without a good deal of blood, stress and tears. Too many hours for my liking!

At first glance, I could have sworn this was a Turner work. :jawdrop:

The lighting and emotion in this image are splendid, and the brushstrokes in the background add a fantastic amount of texture.

Beautiful!  I love how you've made the digital media look like an old oil painting.  Well done!

Fantastic, I thought it was a mastercopy of a classical painting!
