Edit: I wasn't going to explain much about this piece, but a similarity to Blackeri's eros and psyche pic has been brought up, so I thought I'd head that off at the pass. I was originally inspired by this pic: [link] by my good friend =mistressofspam and it made me want to paint something simple with a male and wings. After hours and hours of searching for a reference picture that captured the feel I was after, I'd turned up nothing. Then as I was hunting I came across this picture, as I suspect Marta quite possibly did.

I often go by gut instinct for ref pictures, if they make me feel something I tend to use them and this one hit a nerve. I'd seen Marta's pic a long time ago, but not recently, so the coincidence is quite surprising! Strange business this collective consciousness. Jess even told me it reminded her of Eros and Psyche after I'd finished it. That's most likely why!
