Artist's Comments

You know, this is what difference using reference makes to my work. This is why I say people should never be ashamed to use reference... it makes your work better! Having listened to the sage advice of *keight I went away, thought about it, and scrapped the original wip. Harsh, yes, but sometimes, it's no good labouring with a piece when you know something isn't quite right and it gets worse the more you try to fix it.

This, however, there is no question as to whether I'll continue... I'm really happy with it so far, it captures the first real clinch these two have well. Still need to tweak Jay's face as i've settled on a shite-awful angle to get his squared off jawline in. *eyeroll* I never make things easy. Not to mention the resolution I'll be working on this at, around 5500 pixels along the height. Skin pores and details here I come....

Hit.the.floor and its characters are © to me. This image and description of characters therein are not to be used for any other purpose.

Refrences are very helpful to me. All of my realistic drawings are made with a refrence- even some of my not so realistic ones!

I find then quite helpful too.:) in fact, i tried making a wolf with one, and then making one without, and the difference is HUGE.

This looks great! i cant wait to see it done :)

...Do YOU see it?

I agree, references aren't bad things!

I get the feeling the girl's apprehensive but giving in at the same time.

If I told you there was something I wanted to tell you but I shouldn't tell you because I've already told you about wanting to tell you therefore telling you what I wanted to tell you, have I told you anything at all?

I must learn how to do things like this!

Looking very good. Using references is more than necesary if onew intend the work to look right.

Oh wow, they are both beautifully done. Can't wait to see it finished! And wow... thats an enormous image. Maybe I'll start working on a large canvas.

I have a third, even deeper layer, that's basically the same as the top one. Like pie.

Gorgeous, Sam, especially the scribbly bits. :D

Now if I could just learn to quit scribbling people entirely with circles and ovals and get the boney bits in where they show. *sigh*
