Dance of the Dragon by *Zephyri:iconZephyri:

Artist's Comments

This piece was done as part of a series I wanted to do capturing Kana's people's love of dance and the important part it plays in their beliefs and magics. This particular dance, done here by Kana, is one done to show off not only his particular gifts, and the intense level to which he practices, but as a tribute to Sei, the Dragon God. He weaves the ghostish spectre of dragons, the symbol of light and eternal life, from his twin Katanas by passing some of his inborn gift of Fyre through them, and controlling the smoke and embers which fall from them.

I love colored pencil on black paper, it always looks great.

Those, 'bumps' dont really jump out at me when I look at this, I'm to into enjoying the colors and form of the dancer to notice anything wrong ;) The only thing that I would potentially change is maybe make the dragons heads turned with thier mouths open, they look a little flat compaired to the great form that the dancer has.

anyway, great work!

O.O

Lovey, he looks awesome. The whole thing seems so full of energy and movement. The pose is very elegant and I LOVE those blades and dragons!

so pretty....I love his hair...and the red billowing fabric of the overcoat...the dragons are really interesting too!

I swear the black card really brings out the best in pencil colours...

*is hypnotized*

This is colored pencil? It amazing! I'm liking the pose, very graceful, both him and the dragons. The transformations of the two are very nicely done. Beautiful work!

Support bacteria. For some people its the only culture they'll ever have.

Cold and Catatonic...
:iconzephyri:
thank you m'dear, the irony being there that I actually gave up on this myself. I got bored with looking at all the things that were wrong with it, there should be lots more work done on the dragons and his hair. Still, onto bigger and better things now...
:iconaethereality:
^^ Always onto bigger things- but this is a good piece for giving up. Maybe a look at the full view would show some mistakes, but I like it in all its imperfections!

Thank you dearie... this picture causes something of an emotional tumult i me when I look at it, halfway between satisfaction and utter despair. But I do love prismas on black card, makes everything so yummy and colourful.
:iconzephyri:
beh, I think I hate this picture. It doesn't look like Kana much, though his face is quite small, and the whole thing just dosn't work cohesively. Not what I'd imagined it to look like, but something to put down to experience, if nothing else.
